Students’ Perception about The Satisfaction In Main Library UIN Ar-Raniry

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the satisfaction of the students in main library UIN Ar-Raniry. A survey was used to the students UIN Ar-Raniry toward their perception about satisfaction in main library UIN Ar-Raniry. The results indicate that commonly most of students said that, they are less satisfied toward facilities that provide in the library. It is recommended that the library must pay attention more to information that students’ needs.

Background
The library is a system to gathering, processing, preservation, conservation and presentation and dissemination of information. In this time, the Library is growing rapidly and has been used as a center of information, the source of knowledge, research, recreation, preservation of the cultural treasures of the nation, and provide various other services. According Trimo in Sinaga (2005, p. 220) states that the library is a place collecting some information, both printed and recorded that have been set up well, so, that makes it easy for the seekers seek  the information that they need and the main purpose of the library is to serve the needs of knowledge or information to society and not for sale.
Today, the library become an indispensable place in every university. As a means to help students, faculty, and employees in seeking information. State Islamic University of Ar-Raniry have a main library. Which is a place where students search the information and the reference for their final project or their task. But this time, rarely from UIN Ar-Raniry students find references or books that they need in the library, it happens because the books and the data  in this library are not complete. So, students become lazy to find the information in this library.
For the purpose of this study is to determine UIN Ar-Raniry students' satisfaction about facilities that wereb provided in their main library.
Method
This research was conducted by questionnaire that was used to determine student opinion about their main library. So, the first thing the researchers did for collecting this data is by distributing questionnaires to UIN Ar-Raniry students as many as 30 sheets randomly (see Appendix 1). Questionnaires were distributed in the form of close-and-open-ended question, which close-ended question only require your answer yes, less, and no. While the open-ended question in the next question which gives the respondent to answer freely and use their own words. This questionnaire using a Likert scale where scale is used to measure students' perceptions regarding their satisfaction on the library UIN Ar-Raniry.
Results
            Based on the research there are 70% off students feeling less satisfied on the facilities that were provided by the UIN Ar-Raniry’s library. A breakdown of the responses is listed below in Table 1.

            The survey also give some explanation about the reason why they feel less satisfied in UIN Ar-Raniry’s library. It result strengthened again by open ended question which are the respondens give some statement about their gripe toward the facilities in their library. They hope library will improve their facilities to fill students’ need toward the library. For example, the library must try to complete the books as references in the library. Because uncomplete books become a big gripe for students,  they have to seek the references’ books in another library. Sometime, when they didn’t find the books that they looking for, they must buy the books in bookstore. This problem also become the bigger case for library. Why? Because it is very contrary to the definition, the function and the benefits of the library which is the  library must be a place to seek information or knowledge for students, but can’t fill students’ need.
Discussion / Interpretation of Results
            It can be seen from the results in Table 1. that many of students feel less satisfied about their library. The library had provide all of thing that students’ need in library, such as ; reference book, computer used, comfortable place, but it is still considered less by the students. For books references only 7% said that the library has been providing a complete books, whereas 70% students tell the library very less in complete the books. It means the library not able to satisfy the needs information of the students.
Conclusion
            Students as library users feel not satisfied with the facilities on offer at the library. They want the facilities that was provided in library should be increase, so they can easily find the information that they need to complete the tasks of college.
Recommendations
            It is suggested that the responsible employee in the library UIN Ar-Raniry to more pay attention to the library. And should more pay attention to things that are required of students, as follows:
  • Supplied the books up to date.
  • Setting the books should be well. So, it can be easily to found.


Finally, the library need to provide the students’ needs to get information.
